Our location, 7km east of the famous spa town of Jonzac, is ideal for a tranquil village holiday and your chance to relax in the beautiful and secure surroundings of a 15th Century castle. View our location on Google maps, you'll see the church and Château when you reach the D2/D249 junction. With a heated swimming pool (May-Sep) and 2 acres of parkland only 75 minutes from Bordeaux - it's heaven!
Whether you pick up a car at Bordeaux or La Rochelle airports or drive from the Normandy ferry ports we're easily found!
WHO we ARE
Sensitively renovated since 2016 by new owners, Nicky and Steve, Château de Meux is now available for holiday rentals of the whole property (excluding the private accommodation) accommodating one group up to 17 (+1) people) and weddings / conferences (seating up to 80).
Having already hosted a wedding and in 2019 a number of holiday visits while we continued the renovation, we officially launched the venue in 2020, despite the unexpected constraints of the pandemic!
Please CONTACT us with any enquiries or for further information.
[Open and heated May to September]
Lazing poolside on the sun loungers with a good book or taking a refreshing dip, this is the ultimate in relaxation!
Conveniently situated close to the Château, the heated, salt water pool is generously sized at 14 x 5 metres.
For serious swimmers, the pool offers sufficient depth to make tumble turns at both ends across half the width. For the less confident the wide access steps provide shallower platforms.
Refreshing solar showers are provided at each end of the pool.
Child safety being of paramount importance to us, there is both a quality pool cover and perimeter fencing with a child safety gate.
Children's PLAY AREA
Providing hours of fun in the grounds, this area has proved immensely popular with our younger guests.
Comprising a split level play house with a choice of straight or helter-skelter slides, monkey-bars, a small climbing wall, and three swings (one is a baby swing).
The delightful children's Château café on the ground floor is a popular feature!
From the 'parterre' (the formal French gardens originating from the Renaissance period) to the more relaxed park-style areas, this is a garden to explore and enjoy.
Ideal for weddings and al-fresco events.
COVERED DINING AREA
Giving much needed shade in the summer this covered activity / dining area is a great place to play, eat, chat or generally ’chill out’.
We also have a childrens' toy library.
If you fancy something more strenuous than lazing in the hammock we have an outdoor table tennis table and a badminton / volleyball net.
There is a full sized village boules court at the back of the Mairie’s office which is just the other side of the wall at the bottom of our garden. A two minute walk will take you there.
We also have a toy library with everything from board games to
Lego, dolls' prams, Playmobile and much more.
For many other activities and places to visit in the area see our on-site manual.
